A Gathered Event: 2013 LA Fashion Corner Fashion Show "Caring with Style"

This Friday, we had the privilege of being invited to the 2013 LA Fashion Corner red carpet event and fashion show "Caring with Style" which benefits arts for abused children. There's nothing better than being fashion forward and passionate about people in need. The show premiered clothing by four talented designer lines Mister Triple X, House of 11, Kami Shade Collection, and M the Movement. The event was held at Hollywood luxury nightclub Boulevard 3. The fashion show featured live performance from music group ZupaNova and the event had several give-aways and an after party.  We loved mingling in the exclusive VIP lofts and we'll be bringing you more hot fashion from emerging designers we met here. Check out our recap of the fashion and pics below! And if you didn't see it yesterday, look at the fashion spread from attendees who were looking quite lovely!

Mister Triple XThis collection was dark and edgy and featured swimwear and clothing that was creative with rock star appeal. Mister Triple X is an American fashion and skate board brand based in Los Angeles.

House of 11

House of Eleven was our favorite line. The collection featured luxurious fabrics of leathers, creams, sheer and sleek silhouettes. The line was cohesive and it was easy to see the allure of these clothes in the crowd's reaction. They definitely deserved an A-plus for presentation as their models were styled with consideration from head to toe.

Kami Shade Collection

Another fan favorite was the color and size friendly line of Kami Shade. Although the clothes were beautiful, there were several aesthetics present in this show. The retro swimwear was sexy and eye catching. There were also several contemporary & trendy pieces like the striped cat-suit and gold embellished club dresses. This collection also showcased several sequenced and sparkly evening pieces. Despite the 3 different directions, the collection overall had a range of charm for women in different occasions and life stages, but nonetheless fashionable!

M... The Movement

Photos 2-4 by Bob Delgadillo

M... The Movement was a collection that left me a little puzzled. I can totally see the catchiness behind a grimy street wear aesthetic. However, the collection used lots of tights for women and basics for men. One of the male models wore dark denim jeans, an asymmetric "high-lo" white T and an electric blue turban? I struggled to find the strong statement  behind these clothes. Comprised of mostly greys and blacks, with some cool electric neon-colored Native American inspired necklaces and accessories, the overall presentation lacked runway appeal. On the positive side, there were several pieces that independently could be a great purchase. And the live-performance by Zupa Nova was a rocking backdrop to the clothes.

A Gathered Event: Facet Fashion Show

This Saturday we had the privilege of attending the exclusive Facet Fashion Show and all white rooftop day party at Siren Studios in Hollywood. The event was hosted by actor/models Terrell Tarrance and Riki Dee and produced by the fabulous Ms. Dunnie O and Miss JGray of Image Is Everything PR. In case you hadn't heard of Facet Studios- let us tell you. Facet Studios is a LA-based photography and film production company that has produced images for Maxim, Black Men, XXL Magazine, Source, and King, as well as fashion ads and web media. Their elite work has launched several of the hottest upcoming models.

As expected, Facet Studio & Films, Miss Dunnie O, and Miss  JGray did not fail to put on an impressive event in the quality of models, fashion, and fun. In fact, everything was so gathered, they were awarded by Eric Garcetti, the Mayor Elect of Los Angeles, for the massive project. The show and party featured music by DJ Storm & DJ LaLa Land. Delicious complimentary cocktails were provided by Courvoisier, and food and samples from both Delectable Sweets and It’s in the Sauce BBQ Food Truck. The beautiful crowd was full of models and other industry people. Celebrity guests included Shemar Moore, Brooke Bailey, Raven Sorvino, Tiffany Foxx and a grip of other artists. The swag bags were full of valuable goodies and products like natural hair & body care line Patsie Girl, Luxe Therapy Scalp Soother, Showgirls Cosmetics, H&M Summer Edition, coupons, and more. So basically the 8 hour fashion extravaganza was full of  models, alcohol, rooftops, all white attired beautiful people, celebrities, sun, food, free stuff, swimwear, lingerie, and music. All buzz words for a hell of a time. And it was. If you missed it, no worries. The Gathered Lady was there to bring you the most important part: the fashion!

The show featured sizzling collections from Fame Forever, Cherry on Top Swimwear, Classy Yet Sassy Customs, Porsha Starr Lingerie, Tamasia Sade, Just Be You, Onny Wear, Venao Swimwear, JayleneAnn, The Joi of Summer, Pretty Posh Intimate Apparel, Yo Megz and Nu Sense.

The Gathered Fashion Spread (June 1, 2013)

Happy Saturday! I'm sure you were bummed about missing our spread last week, but no worries, we have a super spread full of Memorial Weekend fashion! If you didn't know it, LA was poppin! The hiphop party of the year Grits & Biscuits came to the west coast at the House of Blues in Hollywood. Not only was it a fun night with banging music, the fashion did not fail to impress. And because the party targets college alumni, it was a mostly gathered event. Hot? Heck yes. A few technical problems? sure. Worth it? Yezzur! If you are just now hearing about this event, there's always next year. Thanks to our friends at Watermelon Democracy (yes, the same brand that made Bree's super cute Love Dont Lye tee!) we were in the loop! Check out their blog for the latest and greatest hip-hop music, news, style and assorted dope content!

As for the Grits and Biscuit fashion...check out the fashionable crowd below. We saw several styles being rocked from previous posts. Oh how we love that!

But the fun didn't end with Grits & Biscuits Party. Sunday kicked off the annual Jazz & Reggae Festival at UCLA  featuring one of my favorite artists Santigold and of course Common. Although there were some ungathered individuals roaming about, they were the minority! We loved all of the different casual cool styles out in the sun. Check out these hot women who made our spread! Also, major props to the gathered gentlemen who impressed us and made the cut!
